Our team in Ghana

Our leadership team in Ghana consists of Milou, Felicia, Rissa and Patricia. Together, we are supported by a dedicated group of wonderful women who make Tumi thrive – from our receptionists and teachers to our hostel and support staff. Each of them plays an essential role in creating a safe,

Milou Lommelen, Founder

Milou studied Tourism & Facility Management. In 2015 she came to Ghana for an internship, here she felt right at home. While working here, she saw the many opportunities Ghana has to offer and started working on the project plan for Tumi Ghana. After a year of preparations in the Netherlands, she came back to Ghana in 2017 to start Tumi Hostel and the Women Empowerment Center. To this day, she enjoys working in Kumasi with the team and students.

Miss Patricia, Head teacher Tumi International School

Hello! My name is Miss Patricia. I hold a four-year degree in Accounting Education from the University of Education, Kumasi campus, and I have many years of experience working with children. I am grateful to share that one of the children I once cared for has now earned a master’s degree in Agricultural Engineering at KNUST — something that fills me with great pride.

My passion has always been supporting children to grow with confidence, curiosity, and joy. After participating in my first training in holistic and play-based education, I felt deeply inspired. When I began applying these methods in the classroom, I saw how children learned more naturally, happily and freely. Since then, I have become a strong advocate for holistic and play-centered learning.

Because of this commitment and the love I have for helping children thrive, I proudly serve as the Head Teacher of Tumi International School, where we create a nurturing and joyful learning environment for every child.

Rissa Adam Yidana, Administrative Officer Tumi Ghana & Project manager Tumi Beyond Labels

My name is Adam Yidana Clarissa. I am 20 years old. I have worked at Tumi for 5 years. I first came as an intern to learn financial administration. Step by step, I grew and became an important part of the team. My journey is about giving back and helping to build something better. I want to offer others the same chances that I received. I also want to help create strong support systems and new opportunities, so that the next generation grows up in a Ghana that is fairer, stronger and full of possibilities. I am proud to be a part of Tumi.

Felicia Sedezor – Head sewing teacher

My name is Felicia Sedezor. I am 28 years old and a proud mother. In 2019, I decided to study fashion to create something of my own, and being accepted to Tumi was a dream come true. I loved every moment of the course and quickly became one of the top students.

After graduating in 2022, I briefly worked elsewhere, but when the chance came to teach at Tumi, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to share what I had learned. Teaching has been an incredible journey — challenging at times, but always rewarding. Seeing my students grow in skill, confidence, and creativity brings me immense joy. Today, I am proud to serve as the Head Sewing Teacher at Tumi Ghana, guiding and inspiring the next generation of talented designers.

Our students

Training at our Women Empowerment Center encompasses so much more than just learning how to use a sewing machine. We asked some of our (former) students what the training means to them:
