Because trade is more dignifying than aid.
Tumi Ghana is a social enterprise that empowers women to generate their own income.
About
Education in Ghana, especially university, is still a luxury for many. As a result, many women lack the necessary skills to earn a living independently.
We believe that creating jobs is more valuable than providing financial aid. Therefore, young women are trained as seamstresses and designers at our Women Empowerment Center. Also, these women are coached on entrepreneurial skills, such as administration and marketing. In addition, they receive sex education and access to free contraception.
All this results in skilled and independent women who can take care of themselves and their children.

Curriculum
With us, young women can:

100% Self-sufficient
Our goal for the Women Empowerment Center is not only to achieve financial independence for the women who join our project, but also for the project itself. Therefore, we run Tumi Hostel and sell the products made by our fashion students, two side projects to generate income to fund the Women Empowerment Center.
Tumi Hostel is located on the same property as our Women Empowerment Center and is rated 9.4 on booking.com.
Items made by our students are sold in our shop in the hostel. Soon we will even open our own store across from Tumi Ghana, so that people who don’t come to our hostel will also know how to find us better.
Maame Tumi is our online store where you can buy many of our beautiful handmade items – we ship worldwide!
